Dear. Reader
Over the last couple of months we have been touched by people who are doing amazing things to help raise awareness and funds for much deserved charities. We would like to introduce a few of these people and organisations to you so you to can be aware and support activities that are taking place over the next couple of months.
Whats on 2day would like to introduce.....
IAPWA
The International Aid for the Protection and Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) is a non-profit UK organisation who are working closely with the Sabah government in Borneo to deal with the countries many stray animals that are desperately in need of help.
Many of the animals are lucky to receive food and lead short and miserable lives. Although this is the situation for many stray animals around the world, the dogs and cats face additional problems which force them to struggle for survival on a daily basis. Many are caught and killed, often inhumanly or end up being beaten to death for human consumption. Each day brings in new stories of cruelty that are too horrific to print. Since the group was established they have provided hope and protection to many dogs and cats in need and are working closely with a local welfare group to raise vital funds for a sanctuary and to build a veterinary clinic so that they can provide free treatment to help animals throughout the country.
Lucky’s story...
Lucky was rescued shortly before being slaughtered, along with his mum who had been beaten. Both dogs received urgent veterinary treatment but the emotional scars are taking longer to heal. Lucky spent 3 days staring at a wall and couldn't even bear to turn around as he had shut down emotionally and was unable to deal with the situation. He is now safe and well thanks to IAPWA's intervention and is making great progress with a local foster carer who is showering him with love. He has also been reunited with his mother and both are getting better physically and mentally each day. If you are able to help in any way or would like more information please visit www.iapwa.org or contact enquiries@iapwa.org.

Competitions
Win two tickets to Oxford Philomusica, "LA Belle France" at the Sheldonian Theatre, Broad Street, Oxford.
John Rutter makes a welcome return to conduct what will be only the second performance of his Harp Concerto, for which the Orchestra will be joined by Catrin Finch, described as the "The Queen of Harps". This delightful springtime concert opens and closes with two Gallic backward glances – Ravel’s formalised tribute to friends fallen in the First World War, and Bizet’s only, but brilliant and classically-conceived, symphonic excursion.
To win the tickets all you have to do is answer the following question correctly.
What type of instrument is a Harp?
- Wind
- String
- Brass
- Electric
